This week, 10 employees from across the group attended a 3 day leadership development programme at Brathay Trust, designed to strengthen the knowledge, skills, behaviours, and mindset required to excel in both current and future leadership roles.
The programme was tailored specifically to Veitchi Group and combined leadership theory with practical, team-based challenges, encouraging participants to step outside their comfort zones, collaborate with colleagues from across the business, and develop a deeper understanding of what effective leadership looks like. Activities included the Mohawk Walk challenge, the Whaler Boat Challenge, problem-solving exercises, and a multi-part team project that required participants to work together to earn resources and complete a construction task.
Throughout the programme, the team explored key leadership topics including:
✅ Self-awareness and understanding others through Insights Discovery
✅ Leadership responsibilities, functions, and styles
✅ Effective delegation, prioritisation, and time management
✅ Managing conflict and improving communication
✅ Coaching techniques to support and develop team members
By developing a greater awareness of different perspectives, learning how to adapt leadership styles to different situations, and strengthening teamwork and communication skills, participants returned with practical tools they can immediately apply within their teams and across the wider business.
A huge thank you to Martin Ibbotson at Brathay Trust for delivering an engaging and insightful programme, and well done to all of our attendees for embracing the experience and investing in their personal and professional development.
